There is more than sun and gorgeous scenery to be found in Lake Havasu City. This is an active social community that has made sure a wide range of interests are included in the fabric of life here. The Allied Arts Council is comprised of volunteers and interested local art groups to encourage the “artistic and cultural betterment of Lake Havasu City”.
If you are interested in history, the Lake Havasu Museum of History can give you a view of the area before Mr. McCulloch built his vision on an empty piece of Lake Havasu City real estate and moved an historic 2,000 year old bridge here from England. The museum gives a view of the Indians, miners and dam builders who came before civilization arrived. Take a tour to Swansea to see the relics of a 100 year old mining town.
Music is always in the air. The Lake Havasu Community Choir and Lake Havasu Regional Orchestra perform throughout the year. Listen to Concerts in the Park on Friday nights on the stage at London Bridge Beach. Check the schedule of Grace Arts Live, a beautiful theater, which brings local musicians and professional artists to its stage along with plays and other live performances.
You might enjoy the Lake Havasu Bluegrass on the Beach festival held at Windsor Beach in Lake Havasu State Park. If you're a car buff, drive down to “Cruisin’ on Main”, the Thursday night event that features hot rods, classic cars, music, food and merchants who stay open late. There are many events and festivals hosted by the city, and many include music.
ART AND MORE
Main Street comes alive with color, texture and shapes on the first Saturday each month when the Uptown Arts and Crafts Festival brings artists and art lovers together with crafts, art work, photography and more. The Art Guild sponsors an annual Holiday Shoppe of unique handmade gift items.
There’s art in the sky when colorful hot air balloons launch during the Annual Balloon Festival which offers art, food and sky diving in addition to the air show. Join the rest of the community to celebrate at The London Bridge Days Parade with marching bands, floats, animals, funny cars and more. Or try your luck at a casino like Havasu Landing Resort Casino.
The Annual Boat Parade of Lights is a magical event. The London Bridge area buildings are covered with millions of tiny shining lights as a flotilla of wonderfully decorated boats parade under London Bridge. The boat’s colorful lighted decorations reflect in the water creating quite an amazing sight. It’s a good way to end the year.
